Teen Groups and Adventures
Heartwood's teen groups and events are designed to bring young people together through fun outdoor activities. Our therapeutic curriculum is focused on building a positive peer culture through authentic communication, team collaboration, and personal challenge. Unlike other nature-based adventure programs, our groups are always staffed with at least one or more licensed mental health clinicians. Our groups incorporate a variety of activities including hiking, canoeing/kayaking, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, and bonfire hangouts. Interpersonal skill building and mindfulness-based practices are also a backbone of our program. No previous experience in the outdoors is required for participation.
From our perspective of community development, every individual is capable of making positive contributions to the group, and every individual has something to teach and to learn from others. Our experiences are designed to bring forth the talents and gifts of each participant. Our goal is for participants to walk away from Heartwood groups with a deeper understanding of themselves, their environment, and each other. To learn more about upcoming events CLICK HERE.
