Heartwood Expeditions
Who We Are
Heartwood Expeditions is a community-based nature therapy program for teens, families, and wellness providers. Our mission is to build community in outdoor spaces through connection to nature, connection to self, and connection to other. Our wraparound services include individual counseling, family therapy, and/or group work. It is our belief that individual growth occurs in relation to others, and the best way to build trusting relationships is through fun and meaningful experiences in nature. Evidence has shown overwhelmingly that exercise and exposure to nature help improve attention, memory, stress levels, and both physical and emotional wellbeing. Through our wilderness excursions, group experiences, and other services we invite participants to work collaboratively to build a supportive community and a meaningful life.

About
Services
We use both conventional and alternative approaches to individual therapy. Therapists can meet with clients in the home, community, or in a nature-based setting.
Our teen groups range from single evening events to multi-day excursions. Activities may include fire hangouts, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, rock climbing, white water rafting, camping, and backpacking.
We invite wellness providers in the human services fields to join us for our provider peer support group series. Our groups blend mindfulness practices, somatic work, and nature therapy.
Family and couples therapy can take place both in the home or in an outdoor nature session. Our counselors are trained in IFS Intimacy from the Inside Out, EFT, and the Gottman Method.
